SALEM, Oregon- The University of the Pacific men’s and women’s swimming teams competed in a double-game Northwest Conference Saturday morning against Willamette, but the Bearcats claimed victory in both men and women.
The boxers lost 108.5-892.5 while the men were beaten by the score of 135-39.
Alex moehnke (Sophomore / Banks, OR), Madelyn Russell (Sophomore / Simi Valley, California), Allison simon (Sophomore / Chula Vista, California), and Julie abrigonde (Junior / Reno, NV) opened the competition with a first place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, clocking 4: 26.60, 12.40 seconds ahead of the Willamette relay team.
Amira Boler (Freshman / St. Paul, MN) swam to second place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 14: 22.98.
Abrigonde managed to claim the victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2: 08.68. This time came just 15 hundredths of a second ahead of the swimmer Willamette. Allison simon (Sophomore / Chula Vista, CA) finished in 3rd up in the race but was only 29 hundredths of a second behind Abrigonde.
Anne Marie Grieder-Jacobs (Freshman / Portland, OR) took the victory in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.01.
Moehnke continued his good day in the pool with a first place finish in 200 medley yards with a time of 2: 22.43.
In his final individual run of the day, Abrigonde added another victory to his total for the day with a time of 5: 48.70 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Josh joireman (Junior / Pullman, WA) took the victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1: 56.57. Teammate Ethan Hunter (Senior / Silverton, OR) finished 4e in the event.
Joireman added another individual victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5: 14.15.
The Pacific returns home on November 19e for a duel against Lewis and Clark scheduled for six o’clock.
