Let’s jump into the pool at the Neuqua Valley boys swimming for a DVC match. The Wildcats are chasing their second conference victory of the season as Central look to bounce back from losing to Waubonsie Valley.
200-yard medley relay
Let’s start with the 200-yard QN relay. The Naperville Central group of Caleb Yau, Henry Wagner, Robert Hargrave and Hayden Albright are able to withdraw in front of the peloton. The relay team won the first race of the competition with a time of 1:41, two seconds ahead of Neuqua’s group.
200 free yards
Stay on the 200 this time with the freestyle. Wildcat Aiden Dunn sails to the end because he is on his own. He swam a time of 1:46, nine seconds ahead of his teammate Steffan Anderson. Dunn is also taking the 500 yards for free.
50 free yards
Free time for the 50 meters. Central’s Brendon Boonsearm-Niedzwiedz starts in a close game. The Redhawk narrowly edged Neuqua’s Dima Kondrashev for the win by a tenth of a second.
100 meter butterfly
Now let’s move on to the 100-meter butterfly. Wildcat Ryan Doerrer starts off in a close battle but is able to pull away at the end with a running time of 54 seconds as he hits the wall.
100 yards on the back
At 100 yards backstroke as Central gets more help from another swimmer at Caleb Yau. He and Neuqua’s Alex Shen are neck and neck, but Yau takes first place.
100 meters breaststroke
However, there is too much blue and gold in the water. At 100 yards breaststroke, Rocky Chan for Neuqua Valley takes command. He finished the race in first place and that helped the Wildcats pass Naperville Central 102-83.
