By next year, three pools at Tau Devi Lal Stadium | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will set up three swimming pools in the Tau Devi Lal sports complex by next summer.
Currently, the GMDA is preparing the tender for the three swimming pools, which it will launch in May. “It will take almost a year to complete the work, and the pools will be ready by the next (summer) season. Our goal is to complete work on at least one of the pools by April 1, 2023, so people can use the facility as soon as possible,” the official said.
The earlier plan was to create an all-weather indoor pool, but the authority revised the plan, officials said, “keeping people’s needs in mind”. “While one pool will be all-weather, another will be a normal pool and the third will be an Olympic-sized pool specifically designed for athlete training,” said a senior GMDA official who did not want to be named. .
There is only one government-run swimming pool in Gurgaon, located in Kamla Nehru Park, which is currently under renovation by the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG). The civic body is also creating a second swimming pool, an indoor facility, as part of the Wazirabad Sports Complex project.
Pools aren’t the only additions underway for the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex. Officials have revealed that it will soon get a shooting range, badminton hall and cafeteria, and the tender for the works is almost ready. “The badminton hall will have provisions for four indoor badminton courts. The shooting range will also be indoors and will have provisions for 10m and 20m shooting,” the official said.
GMDA will also upgrade the complex’s cricket stadium. Officials revealed they had reviewed the technical bids for the work, were processing the financial bids and planned to release the work order in May.
