Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s swims drop out of competitions today in Indiana State. Both teams are ranked 1-3 on the season. The men’s team lost their game to Bellarmine 95-167, and the women’s team lost to Indiana State 66-193 and to Bellarmine 121-141.
The men’s team started their day with a first place finish in the 200-yard relay with the Forrest Baumgartner, Collin feliciano, Jacob Nichols, and Dismas Dillon. They finished with a time of 1: 35.58. Wilson was also third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10: 16.47.
Jacob Wienants got a second place finish for EIU in the 200-yard free with a time of 1: 48.48. Felicinao was second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1: 00.67. Dillon earned the men’s team’s second victory in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.29. Payton Bus was also second in the 50 free with a time of 22.04.
Buse would then add a first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.59 while Dillion secured second place with a time of 49.30. Connor Colston entered the board with a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4: 55.31). The EIU men’s swimming finished the competition with a first place in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3: 15.04. The team consisted of Spencer wilson, Buse, Dismas and Colston.
The women’s team started with a third place of Ashley glesing in the 100-yard chest with a time of 1: 08.82. Cameryn Lewis was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.87.
Maddie pittman added a fourth place in the 500-yard free with a time of 5: 33.67. Corinne Staneart clinched second place in the 100-yard free with a time of 1: 01.47. Emma Ballantyne also added a second place in the 200 IM with a time of 2: 18.35. Women’s day ended with a second place finish in the 400-yard relay with Pittman’s team, Fall squeak, Kaylan ottosen, and Lewis (3: 45.04).
Both teams will be back in the Padovan pool on Saturday January 15th against the IUPUI.
