Experts could not confirm that a shotgun was used to kill Trainspotting actor Bradley Welsh, lawsuit says

A gun shown to gun experts could not forensically be identified as the one used to kill a T2 Trainspotting actor, a court has heard.

Radley Welsh, 48, was shot and killed in his apartment in the West End of Edinburgh on April 17, 2019.

Sean Orman, 30, has pleaded not guilty to all 15 charges against him, including murder, attempted murder, gun and drug offenses, and is on trial in Edinburgh High Court.

Testifying on Friday, ballistics expert Martin Connolly said it was not possible to “forensically identify” whether a double-barreled shotgun he had examined was used to kill Mr. Welsh.

Defense lawyer Ian Duguid QC said: “The process you undertook failed to identify the distinctive markings on the roof of Mr. Welsh’s mouth and the wadding that was the subject of. your test shot.

“Is that the reason why you can’t say, presumably, that this was the weapon used to shoot Bradley Welsh?” “

Mr. Connolly replied, “Yes. “

The trial heard that it was possible that the same type of gun fired at property in Edinburgh was used to kill Mr Welsh.

Mr Connolly said on Thursday that examinations of the unloaded ammunition found in an apartment in Duddingston Row, Edinburgh, and during Mr Welsh’s autopsy showed they were “indistinguishable”.

The court then heard that the cartridges found at another property in town were similar to those fired at Mr Welsh and in the Duddingston Row apartment.

Witness Dean White previously told court that he saw Orman shoot an ‘old-fashioned’ shotgun on the ground at his brother’s property in Duddingston Row.
