THE PATIO – It seems that having a pool in the backyard is often more trouble than it’s worth. All the kids in the neighborhood will want to swim in it, you’ll spend a fortune trying to keep it clean, and leaks are something you’ll always have to worry about.

What’s not on the list of reasons most people avoid having a swimming pool? Bear. But as this video shows, pool owners need to keep their heads on a swivel.

I love how cozy the bear looks in there. It’s not like he’s wading, confused by this angular structure above ground. No, it seems his family definitely grew up with an Intex pool and now he loves jumping in to reminisce about the good old days.

“My wife looked out the window and saw a black bear in our daughter’s pool,” the caption reads. “The year before we had a similar pool destroyed by a black bear, so I wanted to scare it away, but I saw that bear was just hanging around. … After a while it seemed that he could damage the pool, so I yelled to scare him off.”

Speaking of damage, it looks like there are a lot of other things in that backyard that could endanger the pool and human swimmers. For starters, why is a huge saw sitting next to the pool? What about a can of gasoline knocked over on an extension cord?

This whole yard looks like an impending accident. I’m just glad the bear was able to escape safely.
