Jean Claudette Carroll Callaway, 63, was reunited with our Lord and Savior on January 6, 2022. She was born September 25, 1958, in Providence Rhode Island and was the daughter of Barbara A. Murphy Carroll and James J. Carroll Sr. (deceased ).
Jean grew up on Ropewalk Pond in the city of Coventry. She often wrote thoughts about her youth there and shared them with her siblings and friends. Jean’s love for the Word of God blossomed as a teenager and a member of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) at Saints John & Paul Church. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in the church choir. She was a prolific reader and had a gift for writing prose and poetry which she shared throughout her adult life. Jean also enjoyed cooking, crafting and crocheting.
Affectionately known as “Sunshine,” Jean has always enjoyed studying the Bible and sharing God’s word with others. She founded “God’s Blessings”, a Christian Facebook page that has reached more than a million people around the world. His publications and reflections have inspired others to rejoice in the positive word of the Lord.
Jean served on the board of directors of Thrive Behavioral Health (formerly known as the Kent Center). She has advocated and promoted many positive changes in the state of Rhode Island for people with behavioral health issues. She also played an important role in helping others as a member of the Hillsgrove Clubhouse and developed many lifelong friendships there.
Regardless of her accomplishments, the highlight of Jean’s life was spending time with her beloved daughter Sarah and grandchildren Evangel and Michael.
Jean is survived by his mother, Barbara A. Carroll, his siblings James J. Carroll Jr. (Doreen), Thomas M. Carroll (Natalie), Kevin P. Carroll, Barbara A. Carroll Abrahams, Michael E. Carroll . as well as nieces and nephews James. J. Carroll III (Angel), Aires H. Medeiros Jr. (Emily), Victoria Ann Carroll, Nathanial G Abrahams and two beautiful grandchildren; Evangel and Michael Cooksey who currently reside in Florida. She was predeceased by her beautiful daughter Sarah J. Cooksey on October 3, 2021.
His funeral will be on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. at Urquhart Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave, Warwick, RI with a Celebration of Life Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St Kevin’s Catholic Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick, RI. Interment will take place privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pink Heals Rhode Island Chapter, 53 Providence Street West Warwick, RI in memory of beloved daughter Sarah J Cooksey or Hillsgrove Clubhouse, 70 Minnesota Ave Warwick, RI.
