The Eurasian Association of Selangor and Federal Territory (Saftea) is appealing for financial support to build a new clubhouse in Bangsar Utama, Kuala Lumpur.
Its chairman, Sheila De Costa, said RM5 million was needed to fully construct and furnish the clubhouse.
“Being a very small community, it has been a challenge as we need government assistance.
“We also urge Eurasian professionals to come forward to help in any way possible,” she told StarMetro.
Saftea was established in 1919 and currently has 800 registered members.
The four-story clubhouse at Jalan Bangsar Utama 8 is expected to be completed by 2025.
De Costa hopes he will be seen as the go-to club for Eurasians across the country.
“It will be a place where Eurasians get to know each other and socialize,” she said.
Saftea was based at Duta Vista Suites until 2017, having moved from its 60-year-old Pudu clubhouse in 2013.
“We host a monthly curry lunch alongside other fundraising activities, with proceeds going to the new clubhouse,” De Costa said.
She invited the public to join the curry lunches, which are priced at RM45 (members) and RM55 (non-members).
