TRAFFIC ALERTS: Here is what SDOT programmed:

While we are removing work platforms on the east span of the high deck, people accessing Terminal 102 will be redirected as a safety measure to avoid the work area. These traffic impacts will reoccur today. Those traveling east and west on SW Spokane St will not be impacted. Diversion signs will be in place for those traveling to and from Terminal 102.

As part of the Reconnect West Seattle project, we will carry out several projects.

-Welfare paving California Ave SW between SW Walker St and SW Hill St again today. This work should begin at 7 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. There will be minor traffic impacts.
-Welfare paving of 35th Avenue southwest of Edmunds Southwest southwest of Alaska Street. Both directions of traffic will be maintained, but motorists can expect delays in the area. Work is expected to start at 7 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
-To improve visibility, our landscaping crews will be working on SW Roxbury St between 9th Ave SW and 14th Ave SW to clear vegetation. Work will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. There will be minor traffic impacts, but you may experience delays while traveling through the area.

As part of the necessary maintenance work, we will be replacement of concrete panels on 16th Ave SW and SW Webster St. This work should begin at 7 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. Traffic in all directions will be maintained, but motorists can expect delays in the area.

Also, WSDOTThe “Revive I-5” work continues on I-5 southbound between I-90 and the West Seattle Bridge exit.

EASTRIDGE BARBECUE: Eastridge Church (4500 39th SW) invites you to the 9:15 a.m. in-person service today with a BBQ afterwards.

FOOD COLLECTION: Donate non-perishable food to Admiral’s Church (4320 SW Hill) today, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

WEST SEATTLE FARMERS MARKET: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market is open with the latest summer products, but also flowers, cheese, fish, meat, pastries, condiments, ready meals, etc. Here is the list of today’s suppliers. California SW between Oregon and Alaska.

SALE OF POTTERY: 10am-2pm, “handmade functional pottery” for sale at 4111 47th SW. See examples in our calendar listing.

CELEBRATION OF NURSERY OWNERS AND OPEN HOUSES: As seen here, West Seattle Nursery (5275 California SW) has a big two-part event today – at 11:30 a.m., a celebration of Marcia Bruno(almost three years now, but no time to party so far), followed by a buffet lunch of local dishes and from 12pm to 3pm, the return of WSN’s annual event Open dayincluding free classes at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

WHITE CENTRAL BLOC PARTY: From noon to 6 p.m. in the heart of the White Center, the second annual street party brings out music, food, drink and fun. Get a wristband for discounts/gifts at participating businesses. Proceeds benefit WC nonprofit organizations. PS wrestling matches at lasso bar (16 south of 98) at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.!

PADDING POOL/SPRAYPARK: With a warm, at least partly sunny afternoon, the wading pools will likely be open – after 9 a.m. you can check at 206-684-7796. In West Seattle, the only wading pool still in operation is in the Upper Center Lincoln Park (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW), noon to 7 p.m. Regardless of the weather, Highland Park Spraypark will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (1100 SW Cloverdale).

COLMAN POOL: The outdoor swimming pool Lincoln Park shore (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW) is open to the public again, from noon to 7 p.m. – daily until Labor Day, so time is running out.

WOODEN HOUSE MUSEUM: The Seattle Southwest Historical Society museum on Alki, and you can visit noon-4pm, (61st/Stevens)

ALKI POINT LIGHTHOUSE TOURS: The US Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers run tours of the lighthouse today, first entry to the site at 1 p.m., last entry at 3:45 p.m.; More info here. Penultimate chance this year!

CLASSIC NOVELS (AND FILMS) BOOK CLUB: Monthly meeting at C&P Coffee Company (5612 California SW; sponsor WSB), 3 p.m. See our calendar list for this month’s topic.
